The Rizq Summer Internship is a social-impact program that challenges student teams to design and ship a working software solution in 12 days. I was part of the management team responsible for scheduling, venue logistics, and coordinating guest sessions. The technical component of my role was reviewing pull requests and helping specific teams scope their features to avoid overbuilding.
III. Exhibits - Architecture
- Operational responsibilities covered cohort scheduling and venue management for the full 12-day program.
- Technical mentorship focused on code reviews and keeping teams within their original scope. Feature creep is common in short sprints; catching it early prevents deadline failures.
- The program included guest speaker sessions from WWF-Pakistan and UNICEF as part of the 'Three Zero' social impact theme.
IV. Cross-Examination
Q: Why include a management role alongside engineering projects?
A: Shipping software requires both execution and coordination. A team that writes good code but misses the deadline ships nothing. Working on both the operational and technical sides of a sprint gave me a clearer picture of where programs break down under time pressure.
